A Day in the Life of a Tennis Leader

With over 30 of our Junior Tennis Players (aged 11+) having completed the LTA Youth Tennis Leaders course with us, Director of Tennis Andy Trott spoke with one of our Tennis Leaders about her experience on the programme.

What is a Tennis Leader?

A tennis leader supports coaches, volunteers and teachers to deliver tennis sessions on court and support the running of a venue or event. Off-court, they help volunteers, teachers and club management committees ensure that tennis is relevant, accessible, rewarding and enjoyable for everyone!

One of our brilliant LTA Youth Tennis Leaders Maddie Hester completed the LTA Youth Tennis Leader course with us, “I learnt so many things like how to structure a session, how to do a warm up that can change and be modified depending on the individual. I love volunteering as there is such a massive sense of community and achievement that comes out of it. It’s a great course and there are so many invaluable skills that come out of it.”

We have trained over 30 juniors from across our programme to become LTA Youth Leaders in the past 18 months and many of them are now volunteering on a regular basis helping our younger players get the most out of their time on court. We will be launching a new volunteer pathway programme in the next couple of months which will provide more training, support, opportunities, recognition and incentives for our young volunteers.
